Sectors

Passive fire protection support shaped around building type, risk and project constraints.

Different sectors bring different fire safety expectations, stakeholder pressures, documentation requirements and practical constraints. The aim is to help project teams apply tested evidence correctly within the context of the building.

Building-type support

Choose the sector that best matches your project.

Sector pages are designed to show the typical challenges, relevant guidance themes and the way technical review or solution development can support the project team.

Schools & Education

Typical challenges: compartmentation, service penetrations, roof voids, refurbishment works and occupied-site constraints.

Relevant guidance: Approved Document B and Building Bulletin 100 should be considered where applicable.

How we help: review proposed details, align solutions with strategy intent and reduce unsupported site decisions.

Healthcare

Typical challenges: dense MEP services, shafts, risers, phased works, live environments and high-consequence areas.

Relevant guidance: Approved Document B and NHS HTM fire safety guidance should be considered where applicable.

How we help: support technical coordination, evidence review and practical solution development for complex interfaces.

Commercial Buildings

Typical challenges: fast-moving fit-outs, landlord/tenant interfaces, risers, service changes and mixed-use constraints.

Relevant guidance: Approved Document B, fire strategy documents and project specifications should be coordinated.

How we help: check whether proposed solutions are suitable, proportionate and supported by relevant evidence.

Warehouses, Logistics & Industrial

Typical challenges: large compartments, movement, structural interfaces, services, high-level work and operational constraints.

Relevant guidance: Approved Document B, insurer requirements, strategy documents and tested system limitations may all be relevant.

How we help: develop buildable approaches and review whether proposed details suit real site conditions.

Public Sector Buildings

Typical challenges: procurement scrutiny, legacy buildings, multi-stakeholder sign-off and documentation expectations.

Relevant guidance: project-specific statutory, contractual and public-sector requirements should be clearly evidenced.

How we help: provide independent technical review to support defensible decisions and clearer project records.

Social Housing & Residential

Typical challenges: remediation programmes, repeat details, resident-sensitive work and consistency across multiple properties.

Relevant guidance: Approved Document B, fire strategy information and Golden Thread expectations may be relevant.

How we help: review proposed solutions, documentation and repeatable approaches before wider rollout.

Role clarity

Sector support does not mean generic surveying.

Initial surveys are normally better carried out by dedicated surveying companies. This consultancy is best used to review surveyed information, photos, drawings and proposed solutions, then develop or verify technically suitable approaches.

Targeted site visits and focused surveys are available where project complexity or risk justifies direct involvement, subject to scope, notice and agreed fees.
